Hope – Mexico Montebello is sourced from cooperatives in the Los Lagos de Montebello region through a dedicated quality-control program built around varietal selection, careful picking, and precise washed processing. The Story Behind This Coffee

Nestled in the far south of Mexico, Chiapas shares its border — and many of its growing conditions — with Guatemala's celebrated Huehuetenango region. The Los Lagos de Montebello area sits within a stunning landscape of forested highlands and crater lakes, where small cooperative farms have been quietly producing exceptional coffee for decades.

The cooperatives here — including Finca Triunfo Verde and Campesinos Ecológicos de la Sierra Madre de Chiapas — grow heirloom varietals like Bourbon, Typica, and Mundo Novo at altitudes ranging from 1,200 to 1,750 MASL. These are the same classic varietals that built the reputation of great Central American coffee. Combined with a dedicated quality-control program — covering varietal selection, fertilization, picking, processing, and lot assessment — this is coffee produced with genuine purpose and pride.

The washed process is used here, carefully removing the fruit before drying to produce a clean, bright cup that lets the terroir of the Chiapas highlands speak clearly.
