Why most coffee isn't made for nut allergies

The risk is cross-contact, not the bean. The common sources:

  • Flavored coffees. Hazelnut, almond and pecan blends leave residue on shared equipment.
  • Shared roasting equipment. The same machines roast several product lines.
  • Co-packing. Many roasters send their coffee to facilities that also pack nut products.
  • Storage and shipping. Warehouses that store many products together.

That's why a "nut-free" label without third-party verification isn't enough for families who manage a serious allergy.

Common questions

Is Pangea Coffee nut-free?

Yes. Our dedicated facility processes no tree nuts or peanuts, and none of the other Top 9 allergens. We don't make flavored coffees, we don't co-pack for other brands, and our equipment handles only coffee. SPOKIN verifies it.

What does SPOKIN verification mean?

SPOKIN reviews the facility, our suppliers and our processes, and keeps checking. It goes beyond a brand's own "free-from" label. Pangea was SPOKIN's first verified coffee.

What about the other allergens?

The facility keeps all of the FDA's Top 9 out: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and sesame.

How do you keep cross-contact out?

Equipment used only for coffee, suppliers we check, strict sanitation, batch records, and SPOKIN verification on top. Everyone's needs are different, so if you're unsure, start with the Discovery Pack and talk to your allergist.

Do you have decaf?

Yes: Sugarcane-Process Decaf, roasted in the same allergen-free facility with the same Q-grader inspection.

Can I return it?

Unopened bags can be returned within 30 days of delivery, and we send the return label. If something isn't right with your order, email info@pangeacoffee.us and we'll make it right. See the refund policy.
