  • Strainer or cheesecloth

Need a Grinder?

Fresh-ground coffee tastes significantly better. Here are our recommendations at different price points:

Budget-Friendly ($30-50)

Blade Grinders: JavaPresse Manual Grinder, Krups F203

Good for starting out. Not perfectly consistent, but gets the job done for drip and French press.

Mid-Range ($100-150)

Burr Grinders: Baratza Encore, OXO Brew Conical Burr

The sweet spot! Consistent grind, adjustable settings, lasts for years. Perfect for any brewing method.

NO GRINDER? DO NOT USE A SUPERMARKET GRINDER unless you know you have zero allergy issues!

Most grocery stores have grinders available. But you have no idea what type of coffee was ground before it and whether it contained artificial flavors or any other contaminants! Use at your own peril if you have allergies or other insensitivities!

The bottom line: buy your own so you can experience what thousands of people across the country already know: there is nothing like a clean cup of freshly ground low acid mold free coffee in the morning!

Tips for Sensitive Stomachs

Our coffee is already low-acid, but here are extra tips if you're particularly sensitive:

1. Try Cold Brew First

Cold brewing reduces acidity by 67%. Steep coarse grounds in cold water for 12-16 hours. This is the gentlest method.

2. Start with Dark Roast

Bold Respect is our lowest-acid option. Once comfortable, try Unity, then Hope.

3. Never on an Empty Stomach

Eat breakfast first. Wait 30 minutes. Then enjoy your coffee. This is the #1 rule.

4. Add a Tiny Pinch of Baking Soda

Just 1/8 teaspoon neutralizes acidity even more. Start small - too much tastes soapy.

📦 How to Store Your Coffee

Proper storage keeps your coffee fresh and flavorful. Follow these simple rules:

✅ DO:

  • Keep it sealed in the bag - Our bags have a one-way valve that keeps coffee fresh
  • Store in a cool, dark place - Kitchen cabinet or pantry is perfect
  • Keep away from heat sources - Not near the stove or in direct sunlight
  • Use within 2-3 weeks of opening - For best flavor and freshness

❌ DON'T:

  • Don't refrigerate or freeze - Creates condensation and ruins flavor
  • Don't store near spices - Coffee absorbs odors easily
  • Don't leave the bag open - Oxygen is coffee's enemy

Pro Tip: If you won't use it within 3 weeks, consider setting up a subscription so you're always brewing fresh coffee!

Questions?

Can I grind it all at once?

We recommend grinding fresh each time for best flavor. But if you need to pre-grind, use it within a week and store in an airtight container.
